"You throw what you want to throw. You don't work with the catcher. The catcher works with you."
(Steve McCatty, via Nationals Journal, 7/15/2010)
Uh oh, is Strasburg having trouble working with a certain future Hall of Famer?"
"...And you have a future Hall of Famer back there in Pudge. And not to say Pudge is doing the wrong thing, but you're trying to work with a guy, and he's got to do what he wants to do. So, you get a little intimidated and don't have the conviction in your pitches. But you got to throw what you want to throw. I keep telling him and telling him, and he finally did it."

...will Baseball Jesus find a Wil Nieves or a Pudge Rodriguez behind the plate in Miami for Strasmas 8?
According to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer, the Marlins are expecting a big walk-up crowd for tonight's game, anticipating a crowd of 25,000. Sounds like Dolphin Land Shark Joe Robbie Sun Bank Stadium definitely won't look like this.
Once again, we'd be remiss if we didn't throw a few obligatory "I can't wait to face him to see what all the hype is about, etc." quotes from the opposing team. Here you go, via The Miami Herald:
"He's definitely the biggest-hyped player I've seen since I've been in the big leagues. It's almost like a movie star coming. And from what I've seen on TV, he definitely has rare-breed stuff."
(Wes Helms, via Miami Herald, 7/16/2010)"I can't wait to see that matchup [Strasburg vs. Mike Stanton]. Just hearing the stories of Mike hitting mammoth home runs and Strasburg throwing 112...but finally we get to see them up close and in person, facing off against each other."
(Cody Ross, via Miami Herald, 7/16/2010)
Just like Cody Ross, we can't wait to see that Strasburg-Stanton matchup. Not to mention Strasburg vs. Hanley Ramirez.
MASN's Ben Goessling reminds us that Strasburg's innings limit has him in line to make just 9 or 10 more starts this season, or roughly another month-and-a-half. Enjoy every pitch.
