(The Goat: Adam Kennedy watches from the top step of the dugout after his second baserunning blunder in two days snuffed out another comeback attempt. Photo of TV/MASN by Nationals Enquirer staff.)
"I feel bad for Adam. Two days in a row he is involved in aggressive plays. He feels terrible about it."
(Jim Riggleman, via Miami Herald, 7/18/2010)
And, as we've learned all too often from Nyjer Morgan, when Jim Riggleman says "aggressive" in his post-game remarks, he just means "stupid".
"The upside is: We’re out there. We’re on base. We’re grinding out quality at-bats to get into situations to score runs. We’re going to turn it around. We’re going to start driving them in. We drove them in before the break; for about a week, it was going our way and we got some big RBIs. We’re just in a little funk right now where we’re getting on but can’t get them in."

Just a little funk.
Nats Bats Go South Beach
Yup, just another lost series in Miami.
Marlins 1, Nationals 0 (Sunday): Stammen borrows Livo's tough-luck loser hat, and the offense enjoys another day relaxing at the beach. 9 LOB, 0-9 with runners in scoring position. Adam Kennedy blows it again on the bases in the 9th.
Marlins 2, Nationals 0 (Saturday): Tough-luck loser Livo, offense goes missingwith a dash of bad baserunning thrown in (Hello, Adam Kennedy). 10 LOB, 0-9 with runners in scoring position. Okay, that happens against a guy like Josh Johnson sometimes. Silver lining: 2 scoreless innings from Tyler Clippard.
Many, many Ks (30!) by the punchless Nats offense this weekend!
At this hour, several Nationals baserunners are still stranded on base. Hope Riggleman took a head count before the flight to Cincy.
Seriously, Adam Kennedy's days as a National will be coming to an end soon, right Mike Rizzo?
