JIM BOWS OUT
"My resignation is based upon my realization that my ability to properly represent the Washington Nationals has been compromised because of false allegations contained in the press. I am disappointed by the media reports regarding investigations into any of my professional activities. There have been no charges made, and there has been no indication that parties have found any wrongdoing on my part."
(Jim Bowden's Official Statement, via Nationals dot com, 3/1/2009)
Gone baby, Gone.
You lost me at Junior Spivey.
Blame it on the media! Early this morning, Jim Bowden resigned as SVP and GM of the Nationals.
And so, Jimbo rides off into the sunset on his Segway, thanks to gutless, anonymous sources. Never one to miss an opportunity for overstatement, Jimbo leaves Nationals fans with a Classic Jim Bowden Whopper:
"The team, the fans and media can now turn all of their attention from the distractions off-the-field to where it belongs, on the baseball field for the Washington Nationals and their upcoming 2009 championship season."

don't let the door hit your segway on the way out!

I believe that the official title of the major league baseball season is "championship season". I don't think the former Nationals employee was implying that the Washington Nationals were somehow going to win a championship in 2009.

@L Street: Clearly, you're underestimating Jimbo and his ability to blow smoke up the asses of Nationals fans. This was his final salvo, straight up the chute...
