Huh, it's bottom of the 7th inning, Nats up 2-0 on a beautiful Thursday night in D.C., and Scott Olsen's teammates are avoiding him like the plague. Bad B.O.? What gives?

I get it, I see what you did there. You, you're crafty!

i hope you're kidding. when a pitcher has a no hitter going, you don't talk to him. didnt you play baseball?

You don't say, Colt. We were watching the game and felt so bad for this Olsen guy -- none of his teammates would talk to him! he was pitching so well! It just didn't make sense. And then later that Adam Dunn fellow hit a touchdown and we cheered!

standard practice for a pitcher throwing a no-hitter. I agree w/ ckstevenson, this is pretty much a given.

No shit, Jeff? You don't say! Baseball is weird. Could you believe it when Ryan Zimmerman almost hit that touchdown to win the game in the ninth? That was awesome.

Not talking to a pitcher who is looking to throw a no no is baseball tradition. If you noticed, as the innings went on, the players slowly edged more and more away from him. It's part of baseball's unwritten rules. There is a great book called, 'The Baseball Codes: Beanballs, Sign Stealing, and Bench-Clearing Brawls: The Unwritten Rules of America's Pastime' by Jason Turbow and Michael Duca. If you haven't read it, it is a terrific look at the game behind the game. It is a fun read with lots of interviews with past players. After I read it, I started noticing things I would never have seen before.

Reading these comments (those not from The Nationals Enquirer) make me wonder how much of the content on this awesome blog is misread.

Rottie Scottie ( because of your comment, lol)had to keep focused, never speak to a pitcher when it is going good. Great job kid!
