...Baseball Jesus will turn water into run support.
Once again, all I want for Strasmas is a little run support for Baseball Jesus!
(and a win)
Strasburg vs. Cain tonight at Nationals Park. (Insert your own Biblical reference here.) MLB.com's Tim Britton notes that, like Strasburg, Matt Cain's mates haven't provided him with much run support either; and Cain has been struggling to boot, as Adam Kilgore pointed out on Nationals Journal this morning (14 earned runs in his last 3 games). So one or two runs might be enough? Heck, three runs would seem like hitting the jackpot for Strasburg, given his last four (winless) starts.
We'd be remiss if we didn't break out the obligatory "I can't wait to face him to see what all the hype is about, etc." quotes from the opposing team. Here you go, via The SF Chronicle:
"I hope I get the draw that night so I can see what all the hype is about. It's very rare that with all the media hype and expectations he's gotten, to be able to come up and back it up."
(Pat Burrell, via SF Chronicle, 7/7/2010)"Everyone is looking forward to the challenge."
(Aaron Rowand, via SF Chronicle, 7/7/2010)
Prediction...Strasburg's line: 7 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 10 K, 0 BB, 96 pitches. Nationals win 3-2. Hopefully no meltdown.
Strasburg? That is SO late June.

I thought you were talking about Cain the wrestler.

Unfortunately, that'd be Kane.
Would be cool if a baseball player started using Slow Chemical as intro music though, especially for a pitcher.

Good work everybody.
We're leaning towards "Cain and Unable" for loss. "Stras CAIN do eeeet!" for a win.
But it's gonna be a win - losing is not an option this evening.
