Baseball Jesus might want to consider a career in stand-up comedy if this baseball thing doesn't work out.
Just two games into his major league career, and Stephen Strasburg is proving to be a capable comic. Exhibits A & B: His mastery of slapstick in a double-pie-in-the-face routine, followed up by doing the Top 10 list on Letterman. Exhibit C: Strasburg was hard at work on his budding comedy career in a 10 minute session with the media before Wednesday night's game against the TIgers. Here are a few of our favorites: all quotes lovingly copied and pasted from Adam Kilgore's account of the proceedings at Nationals Journal (with one exception):
"There's a lot of good perks, but food is definitely improved at this league. When you have crab legs and shrimp for a pre-BP meal, that's saying something."
Ha! Not bad. Okay, he's just getting warmed up. It gets better:
"I'm not the face of the franchise."
Bwaaaa hahahahaha ha ha ha. Whew! Good one, kid!
"I feel like nobody in this organization expects me to be the guy who turns this franchise around."
Pfffffttt!! Bwhaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha! Hooo boy. That's great! Next one:
"Two guys walked into a bar. The second guy should have seen it coming."*
...Crickets chirping.
Good night, Detroit.
*Yeah, we made that last one up. Let's leave the real comedy to the pros.

A horse walks into a bar.
The bartender asks "Why the long face?"
