"I always kind of wondered what it would be like to have people talk about how good you're playing instead of how bad you're playing. It's been fun so far."
(Ryan Zimmerman, via Washington Post, 5/14/2010)"We played good. Tough conditions, both clubs played hard through some real sloppy conditions. Guys are bearing down at the plate, got some big hits and we finally won one by a nice, big margin."

Nats Pummel Rockies
Nationals 14, Rockies 6: There's the offense! Cold, soggy night in Denver, finally called after eight innings, late.
Ryan Zimmerman, Swingin' in the Rain: 3-5, 2 HR, 6 RBI
"For the better part of about 2 1/2 innings, you couldn't even really consider it baseball. I mean, the field looked like a pond."
(Jim Tracy, via Denver Post, 5/14/2010)
Lannan good for four, but a rough fifth after his elbow "tightened up" (*gulp*):
"The first four, I felt good. And then it tightened up. When that happens, it's kind of tough to control, to really extend. My ball was up, and I wasn't able to make big pitches when I needed to."
(John Lannan, via Nats Insider, 5/14/2010)
Brian Bruney protects 8 run lead with a perfect eighth. No, you weren't dreaming: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K. 14 pitches, 12 strikes. That's more like it!
Look out above! 20-15. Just 1 game out of first place in the NL East. And a 1/2 a game in front in the Wild Card.
Meanwhile...
One word: Awesome.

Did someone get the silver Elvis? Zim? BTW, can't tell you how much I enjoy this blog.

Yeah, we assume it was Zim, but couldn't find any video to post a screen shot...
Oh, and thanks for the kind words...

Post game show was shorter than normal, I guess due to how late it was when the game was called. One has to assume Zim is the POTG and I too would love to see him in the Silver Elvis. Wasn't it great to see all the elements conspire against the other team for a change? Yes, I was crazy enough to watch the whole game AND wait out the rain delay. Boy am I tired ...

@DMan -- we hit the record button on the DVR when they pulled the tarp on the field after the 8th. Zim was a shoe-in for the Silver Fox...but video evidence from the recorded postgame show turned up nothing...
