Dunn to get his
Red (Sox) on?

(AP Photo. Adam Dunn and Nick Johnson enjoy a between-innings chat about which contending teams they'd prefer to play for this season.)

Big Donkey, Boston-bound?

Sound the alarm! Fire up the rumor mill! Over at SI dot com, Jon Heyman mentions the Red Sox in the same sentence as Adam Dunn (kindly ignore the fact that the sentence also includes Nick Johnson and Josh Willingham, and the phrase "lesser possibilities")!

They [Red Sox] are aggressively seeking hitting help, according to competitors, and the guess of other GMs is that they won't wait until the deadline to do something...Aubrey Huff and the Washington trio of Nick Johnson, Adam Dunn and Josh Willingham are four more of many somewhat lesser possibilities in what looks like a fairly deep hitting market.

Anonymous, unnamed sources with no knowledge of the situation name Austin Kearns and Dmitri Young as "even somewhat lesser than lesser possibilities." Whatever that means.

Probably not worth wasting our breath on this one, but what the hell, there's a rain delay. And it's always fun to throw a little gasoline on the ol' fire burning at the rumor mill.
