Character Schmaracter

20070613ed

"I think any transaction we make, we want to have good people here with high character in Washington representing our organization. That's extremely important to us."
(Jim Bowden, via Washington Post, 6/13/2007)

So that would basically kill the Elijah Dukes talk. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted...

But, come on Jim, forget all those 'little' off field problems. What about this story in the St. Petersburg Times from March 2006? Here's the headline so you don't have to read the story: "Dukes growing on, off field -- Managing his emotions has helped the Devil Rays prospect, a star in camp, focus more on the game." See? He can also pop his arms out of his sockets and he hit a homerun back in April wearing a ski mask! Come on, Jim!
