"I think that [our season] can go either two ways these next couple of days. We can either start shutting it down or we can finish strong."

Good News! Nats don't play Philly again in 2009.
Swept again. Nats finish season series 3-15 vs. Phillies.
Phillies 4, Nationals 2: Best news of all: They didn't get no-hit by Cole Hamels (he was perfect through five. 10 K in 8 IP).
Even more good news: Thursday night one wasn't nearly as ugly as Wednesday night. Can't fault the effort.
Another silver lining! Ross Detwiler's best start as a Nat:5IP, 4H, 1ER, BB, 6K. Now 0-6 on the year, though. Doesn't really seem fair to compare Detwiler to Hamels.
Meanwhile...

Wil Nieves left the game in the 3rd with a bad hammy. Nats don't put in a call to Matt LeCroy; instead trade some Ted Lerner cash to Seattle for 37-year old Jamie Burke.
-
Sadly, Livo won't get a chance to get back at pathetic Mets. Hopefully next year.
-
Adam Dunn sat last night for only the 3rd time this season. That's 143/146 games. Worth every penny.
-
Aaron Crow finally signs with KC. Major league contract, $1.5 mil bonus, $3 mil guaranteed. Break a leg, Aaron.
